Is there a relationship between play and creativity?

In my opinion, play and creativity are married with each other. well, what i mean by that is.. one indeed cannot do without the other.
Imagine you have to play with a child and all you have is a couple of dolls and some boxes.
What would you do? Come on,we would definitely acknowledge the boxes as the doll houses..start to conjure some story line up and be in character. For them.
But in this case,In the eyes of the child you are playing with..even the most basic material you give them, becomes useful to play with. i know that, because,i was that little girl.
Give me a cup and i'll treat it as a doll's hot tub, a crayon -i'll use it to bring colors to the doll's hair.
Whatever you give,we become creative with..

Play is just another way of calling it as fun experiments. Except that there are no wrongs and there are no rights. there are no borders ; making one coming up with the most bizarre ideas. Which often lead to great ones that,my friend, many people from past decades and even centuries did, that changed the way of life, literally.

How can one be creative without taking a step into trying out new things? without using a different lens to see an object?

Let's talk about cooking.Do great cooks just and only follow cookbooks? or do they experiment and play with what they have-come up with something even more mouthwatering then before? They do,don't they?

if you want creative workers, give them enough time to play.
